Privacy Policy
Slate is a sports schedule and scores app published by Cloudy Tuesdays LLC ("we", "us"). We built Slate to need as little of your information as possible. This policy explains what that means in practice.
What stays on your device
Your chosen leagues, favorite teams, streaming services, and app settings are stored on your iPhone (including a shared container so Slate's widgets can read them). We do not receive this information.
Kickoff alerts are local notifications scheduled on your device. Setting one does not send anything to us.
Information sent when the app loads data
To show schedules, scores, season details, and streaming options, the app requests data from our servers and, in some versions, directly from public sports-data services such as ESPN. Like any internet request, these requests include standard technical information such as your IP address, the time of the request, and basic device or app version details. The request itself says which leagues or dates you asked for, but it is not tied to an account or to your identity.
Our servers keep these request logs for up to 30 days for operations, debugging, and security, and then delete them. Third-party data services you connect to directly handle request data under their own privacy policies.
App integrity check
To keep our servers for the real Slate app only, the app uses Apple's App Attest. On first launch it creates a cryptographic key that stays in your device's secure hardware, and Apple vouches that the key belongs to a genuine copy of Slate. Our server stores the key's public half, a random key identifier, and a usage counter, and in return gives the app a short-lived access token. None of this includes your name, Apple ID, device serial number, or advertising identifier, and we cannot use it to identify you. We delete a key's record after 400 days without use; deleting Slate abandons the key.
Live Activities
When you follow a game, the app asks our server for an Apple broadcast channel for that game. Score updates are sent to that channel and delivered to your device by Apple. For broadcast channels we do not receive your device token or any personal identifier, and we cannot tell which devices are following a game.
Purchases
Slate Pro subscriptions and purchases are processed entirely by Apple. We never receive your name, Apple ID, or payment information. The app only checks Apple's transaction and entitlement status on your device to know whether Pro is active.
Streaming and referral links
Some "Get" or "Watch" buttons open third-party streaming services. Some of these are referral (affiliate) links, which means Slate may earn a commission if you sign up, at no extra cost to you. Once you leave Slate, the third-party site or app may use cookies or similar technologies under its own privacy policy. We do not receive personal information from those services, only aggregate reports of referrals.
What we do not do
- No sign-in or user accounts.
- No advertising, and no advertising identifier (IDFA).
- No third-party analytics, tracking, or data-broker SDKs.
- We do not sell or share personal information.
Children
Slate is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices and deleting data
Because there is no account, deleting Slate from your device removes your preferences and scheduled alerts. You can turn off notifications and Live Activities anytime in iOS Settings. If you have questions about data in our short-term server logs, contact us and we will help.
Changes
If we change how Slate handles information, we will update this page and the effective date above. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
